Where You'll Stay
Whether you're seeking a private retreat in the countryside or a cosy base for exploring the high country, we have a place that's perfect for you.
A quaint, cosy cottage built in the mid 1900s to house farm workers — now tastefully refurbished and well-equipped. With two bedrooms (King & Queen), open-plan living and kitchen, twin shower bathroom and expansive views, it's your own private slice of the high country. Wildlife sightings — sheep, cows, kangaroos, wombats, birds and possums — are all part of the stay.
Built in 2022, the Homestead is a statement in modern, sustainable country elegance. Two guest suites occupy a private wing, each with a king bed, walk-in shower ensuite, patio, and sweeping views. Guests share the beautiful main pavilion — kitchen, dining and living areas — with your hosts, making for an intimate, genuine farm stay experience.
Wilga Downs is 250 acres — about the combined size of Sydney's Hyde Park, Domain, and Royal Botanic Gardens. Three designated sites have flat gravel parking bays and fire pits, but self-contained campers are welcome to choose their own spot within permitted areas. Four-wheel drive and off-road rigs are recommended — these are real bush sites, not park-and-plug pads.
The Farm
At the heart of Wilga Downs is our commitment to sustainable, ethical farming. Our Angus cattle and Damara sheep thrive on lush pastures and fresh mountain air, resulting in marbled beef and succulent lamb that's a true culinary delight.
Our geese, ducks and chickens roam freely. We employ organic practices to preserve the natural beauty of the land — ensuring Wilga Downs remains vibrant and diverse for generations.
Besides the farm itself, there's an adjoining pine forest of about 2,000 acres with many kilometres of trails and wonderful mushroom foraging in autumn.
Experiences & Events
From intimate family gatherings to grand wedding celebrations, Wilga Downs provides a stunning rural backdrop with genuine country warmth. We also host long lunches, photography shoots and creative productions.
